Using thread as my medium, I stitch layers of cloth and images into visual conversations about the mystery of earth and sky. The fabric shapes selectively expose and/or conceal the riddles of the universe. They are cut, pinned, basted, satin stitched, pinned again to the batting and backing, then quilted into place. Embroidery stitches embellish the surface breathing life and texture into each piece. Nature speaks the soul's symbolic language and I discover layers of meaning in each tree and mountain that I quilt.

Trees remind me to move with the forces in my life. Remaining firmly rooted in the energy of the earth, they bend and sway with the wind. They express their need to be nurtured as they extend their limbs to the light. Endless varieties pay tribute to their individuation.

Mountains speak of silence and strength. They hold their wisdom deep in the folds and layers of their mounds. When I listen and receive, I share the insightful understanding of the mountains.

Small clouds of conscious thoughts float in the vast unconscious sky reminding us how much we have to receive, while the overcast clouds of a cluttered mind block the warmth and light of the sun.

Pathways, rivers and windows transport me from one reality to another. Each time I pass through a window, my perspective changes and I am given new opportunities to flourish. Whether I am inside looking out or outside looking in, I gain insights to cultivate in my garden of discovery.

My work is a personal journal. I work intuitively allowing each page to unfold in its own time; in its own way. The process becomes meditation as my thoughts drift into the silence of doing. The magic is in the process.
