In
2006, the Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild launched a program called
Masterworks where members will be pushing the edges in craft. A special
exhibit area at the 2008 Carolina Designer Craftsmen Show demonstrated
what can be done when a craftsman dares to go past the easily
attainable and makes that exciting piece. These masterpieces are
one-of-a-kind cutting edge crafts. The quality, beauty and originality
of the Masterworks offers a new example of where craft can really go.
Several
artists from all areas of craft, including quilt making, jewelry,
pottery, mixed media, wood, metal and fiber arts, committed to creating
their own Masterworks piece. These pieces were not shown anywhere
before the Carolina Designer Craftsmen show. | |
